Paintaroid
Not being gifted with the skill needed to create the beautiful paintings I see in my head. I have taken to using the skills I do have as a photographer, then with the use of a primitive wooden tool, I manipulate the emulsion in a polaroid print. In this way I am able to create an artful representation of the image created in my camera. These images are all done by hand, then scanned into the computer. Some of the more textured pieces took me 4-5 hours to carefully manipulate. The final output is created on an inkjet printer with archival paper and inks. I have made the prints as large as 48″x48″ but my favorite size for most of them is 12″x12″ matted to 16″. This 16×16 size sells for $300.
